On January 19, Deputies were called to the Walgreens
store in the Village of Park Ridge for a theft complaint.
When officers arrived, they spoke with a lady who
had been shopping in the store. She stated that she had her purse in the cart and bought some items from the store.
She stated that she then pushed her cart off to the side and left the store, but she forgot her purse in the cart.
She soon realized this and returned to the store and collected her purse. In the time she was gone, someone went
through her purse and stole the cash that was inside.
Walgreens was able to observe this through the video
surveillance. The suspect, never breaking stride, opens the purse and takes the cash out. He then returns to
try and gather more times from the purse but a passer-by notices the purse and it is turned in to the clerks.
The suspect then shops and buys a full cart of goods with the stolen money.
The subject is described as a male, 30-40 years
old, brown hair, mustache wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
If you have any information about this theft or
know the subject in the photos, call Portage County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-346-6600. You can remain anonymous
and still be eligible for a cash reward.
